ABOUT ME
Layna Lovelady, MS OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Layna is a pediatric occupational therapist and the owner of Able Me. After treating in clinics around the Birmingham area, Layna felt ready to begin her own journey to support children’s development and well-being in early 2023. She loves the field of pediatric occupational therapy because it fosters the perfect balance between play, creativity and research!
Layna studied Kinesiology and earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Ole Miss. Following graduation, she earned a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Layna came to the Birmingham area and has made the area her home. Outside of the clinic, Layna enjoys reading, spending time on the lake, and hiking with her dog, Jack!
MY APPROACH
Fostering growth and independence
At Able Me, Layna believes that the relationship between a child and their therapist is the most important component of therapy. When children feel safe, seen and loved, they are able to dream big and believe in themselves!

Each child has different strengths and challenges, and Layna believes in using a strengths-based approach. This technique takes a holistic view of the child before making goals or setting expectations. Layna believes in neurodiversity-affirming treatments that develop a child's unique identity! Each child has the ability to grow, learn, succeed and dream. Able Me's goal is to assist children in these steps!
